First up is the art & making of art book which will be released on Dec 31st 2024. Below are some preview pages from the book as well as the book synopsis provided by the publisher –

And next up is the 4K UHD physical media release for season 1 ( out Oct 8th 2024 ), which is arguably the bigger news because Netflix almost never release physical editions of their productions, save for some very notable exceptions. I’m a really big fan of Arcane myself and have been pretty much given up hope that we’ll ever see a physical media release for the series ever, so this is very very welcomed news. Below are some details for the release.
I’ll be picking up both the art book as well as the 4K UHD, so watch out for my review when they’re released.

I’m very excited for the artbook! That will be a day one purchase for sure!! But will sadly only be getting the standard blu-ray for Arcane. I can’t afford a fancy tv with the right equipment, so I tend to just rip blu-rays onto my hard drive. My disc drive can technically read 4K discs, but currently doesn’t work with my ripping software due to a firmware problem. (the blu-ray consortium is terrible!! It’s nice that they agreed to making the format region free though)
I do try to get the best version of a film for posterity (the fact that Criterion for example sells combo packs for their 4K
releases is much appreciated), so for example, I got the 4K steelbook of The Boy and the Heron. It’s a shame that the only combo pack for Arcane is that ultra expensive set with the dice. I feel like this may have been Riot’s decision, as GKIDS is generally pretty good with the combos.
Complaining aside, it’s wonderful we’re getting a physical media release of this. Arcane is a landmark in animation history, and absolutely deserves a proper release. Even the standard blu-ray is exciting to have. (and a better quality than streaming on Netflix)

Excellent news! I am so glad that Arcane is getting a physical release AND an “Art Of” book to boot! I love the art style of the show–hell, the whole show is a masterpiece.
Now, they are…pricey, but hell, I’ll just have to save up and do some more job-hunting! 🙂

Coffee – Yep I agree with what you say, I’m usually happy if the publishers just give us the option for a regular edition without all those bells and whistles that I dun care about and make it a decent pricing. I’m sure the blu-ray will still look amazing for Arcane !
Marc – Same here, gotta start saving up now haha !
