Sable (サブレ) is an Isekai illustrated children’s book by the renowned anime background art director Kimura Shinji, who has lent his formidable drawing skills to creat the most amazing background art pieces for animated films like Steamboy, My Neighbour Totoro, Tekkon Kinkreet, Children Of The Sea and more.
This is the first time Kimura-san is embarking on an original story, which tells the adventures of a little boy Rusk and his pug Sable and they journey into an alternate dimension called the World of Nakushimono.
The book’s primary audience is young kids, so the Japanese language used is fairly simple, with furigana characters that help you read the Kanji words easily.
I’m a really big fan of Kimura Shinji’s beautiful illustrations, so any publication that features his art work interests me. This is a nice one to add to the collection and comes recommended.

Oh man, so cool. It’s nice to see him working on more children’s books. I bought “Hipira” for my daughter a few Halloweens back, and that one was a lot of fun… Of course, Otomo was helping him out that time. Haha This one looks even better though. Thanks for posting this!
