Miracle Love is a visually stunning, full CG generated music video by computer graphics/visual designer Zeng Xiaolin, who goes by the online handle zaoeyo. Created over a span of about 4 months using 3D software like CINEMA4D and Octane Render, zaoeyo crafts a most impressive CG version of Tokyo, in particular the neonlights and billboards packed, bustling areas of the Shibuya crossing and Kabukicho in Shinjuku. During my years of living in Tokyo from 2004-2009, Shinjuku was one of my fav haunts ( my film school was located close by ) and I can personally attest to the high level of realism and accuracy that the artist has created; the beautifully crafted shots and cinematography also help accentuate the visual appeal.
And while we’re on the subject of Shinjuku; renowned anime director Makoto Shinkai also has a soft spot for the area, with many of his films like Your Name, Weathering With You and Garden Of Words featuring various locations of Shinjuku. In fact, Garden Of Words is based almost entirely in and around the Shinjuku area; check out my review for the background art book to see more ( image below ) –
In this troubled times that we live in with international air travel bought to a near stand-still, this music video is making me miss Japan even more as I was making annual trips to the city before the pandemic set in. Here’s hoping the world will overcome this crisis soon and allow all of us to travel free again in the coming years.

So, this was basically a practice project for this artist? (If I understand the credits at the bottom of the video correctly.) That is amazing when you think about it. “I’ll just do this super finished CG video as practice.” I also love the use of Mariya Takeuchi as well for the song. I must say I have a very soft spot in my heart for the general vibe of City Pop.
And I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments at the end of your post — here’s to getting back to a more normal world where we can travel again.

Chris – Yes, it does seem this was a passion project of sorts and not a commercial job. Very impressive indeed !
I definitely missing Tokyo and traveling, let’s hope things get better soon !
