First announced at the Anime Expo 2019, Katsuhiro Otomo “Complete Works” is a full collection of the famed Akira manga artist’s comic works since his debut piece A Gun Report, published in 1973. News about this massive collection has been sparse, right until the Japanese publisher Kodansha released this production poster last week, announcing that the work is currently underway on the collection and that it will be released some time this year (2021). The art work used in the poster is a drawing from Otomo’s debut manga A Gun Report.
Otomo has drawn a good many comics over these decades, so the collection is going to be positively epic…as will the price. Nonetheless, as a big fan I’m ready to bite the bullet on this one. I’ll post more updates on the details of the collection as well as the release date whenever I have them.

The last Katsuhiro Otomo publication ( Dec 2019 ) is the splendid Akira Art Of Wall art book, which I’ve reviewed here ( pictured below ). I absolutely recommend it.

It’s like Christmas day whenever I come on here and there’s some Otomo news under the tree. He’s in my top 3 of comics artists, and among my top 10 of artists in general. This will be a must have, I reckon.

I’m very excited to hear this! as long as there is a US English release. I’ve always been a huge fan of Akira but have not been able to track down Otomo’s other works to read. I know I’ll purchase this regardless of price, lol but I am not expecting this to come cheap. gonna have to start saving my pennies
