Warner Bros Japan recently unveiled the teaser for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Samura Hiroaki’s manga Blade Of The Immortal, directed by Takashi Miike. Check it out below :
Blade Of The Immortal is one of my favorite manga of recent times, hugely because of Samura Hiroaki’s immense art work. Needless to say I have high hopes for the film, and director Miike Takashi has directed some great Jidaigeki action flicks, stuff like Sukiyaki Western Django and 13 Assassins.
From the teaser Makie’s moves look woefully unimpressively ( girl in the violet kimono around the 0:16 mark – she’s likely the most skilled swordsman in the manga ), but I guess it’s unfair to judge from just the teaser. We’ll see.
Blade will be released in Japan on the 29th of April, 2017. More details on the website.
If you are new to Blade Of The Immortal, I highly recommend it. Here’s Samura Hiroaki’s art book for the manga.

Svastika on the back of main character removed so as to not offend anyone when exporting the film to foreign/western markets… sad…
