Snowy day, Tokyo

Posted By yonghow on February 4th, 2008

Some quick snaps from yesterday’s sudden deluge of snow in Tokyo. All these were taken close to where I live.

Tokyo doesn’t really get much snow fall every year and coupled with warming temperatures ( it didn’t snow last year ) this is probably the last snow fall we’ll see this year.

Seeing all these pictures make me wish I had gone to Japan a month later in time for the snow. Like Tragic Comedy, I haven’t seen real snow before, since it’s an eternal summer here in sunny Singapore.

Looks ace! I was really hoping it would snow while i was there in Dec/ Jan this year (it snowed loads in jan 2006), but alas, i saw no snow – not even frost.

I love snow though – and part of me gets a bit of a tingle seeing snowy Tokyo as it kinda reminds me of the hauntingly beautiful snow scenes in mamorou Oshii’s Patlabor 2 movie (complete with Kenji Kawai soundtrack).

Kasumi

Hah, everything looks pretty covered in snow.

Looks like it’s been snowing globally (well where 4 seasons exists anyway). Here in Toronto, there was a blizzard just a couple days ago. *cries*

tragic comedy – If you look hard enough, I think so. Its beautiful. :]

Sylon Beta – Next time when you’re here, I’m sure. But its really cold !

jackson – this is totally off topic, but those Edison pictures are real I think.

AndyH – I gotta watch that again ! Its one of my fav anime films too.

Kasumi – Yep. Bad for me, as I had to cycle to work. :p

Ivy – Just saw the pictures on your blog. Toronto’s snowfall is definitely more major. :]

I was there and it was the first time I ever saw real snow. Had a lovely day taking lots of photos.

Came from AUS and spent a few days in Tokyo before going to Sapporo for the snow and ice festival. Later I went an saw the snow monkeys in Yudanaka.

It also snowed whilst I was in Kyoto.

Wonderful time in Japan and many happy memories.
