Naraijuku in Nagano was a prominent rest stop along the Nakasendo, a trade route that served Edo ( old Tokyo ) and Kyoto back in the Edo era ( 1600-1800s ). Stepping through the streets lined by these gorgeous old houses really transports one back in time to medieval Japan. I was particularly smitten by the many quaint and beautiful storefronts of the shops that line the street, selling everything from groceries, desserts to art & crafts.

Well, I’m interested how those housings look so straight & lined up, ‘Cause Korean housings imo look more organic than that – whether its the pagodas or landscapes.
At Binghamton where I live I read that it was built for industrial purposes around 17-1800 – mostly brick and stones; but in the details occasionally one could find some baroque ornaments.
