The Art ( and Many Other Mistakes) of Eric Powell is a collection of illustrations by the Eisner award winning comic artist behind The Goon, published by Dark Horse. While I’ve never actually never the comic series before, I’ve always heard good things about it, and with recommendations from many friends.

I know for certain however that I really enjoy Eric Powell’s illustrations – from the many pencil drawings that are showcased side by side with the color art in the book one can tell this is the work of a highly accomplished draftsman; I also love the way he renders skin tones that give them a stylized but still realistic, three-dmensional quality.

Eric Powell’s subject matter often feature supernatural elements with a grotesque touch that might not be to everyone’s taste, but that is also the charm and uniqueness of his work. This hard cover book reproduces his stunning art in beautiful quality, and comes highly recommended.
