Oyaji (親父衆) is a collection of comics/drawings from 33 artists featuring their personal artistic interpretations on the subject matter of the “father figure”.
The project is spearheaded by Akira director Otomo Katsuhiro and his collaborator Katsuya Terada, with both of them contributing the most number of art work in the book.
This is actually not the first time that Otomo and Terada have worked together on an art book – definitely check out the superb VIVA IL CICLISSIMO!
(above) A piece by Tekkon Kinkreet/Ping Pong manga artist Taiyo Matsumoto.
(above) Illustrations by Egushi Hisashi; check out his art book Works.
Any new art work or publication by Otomo or Terada is always welcome, and this book is a great bonanza of both with additional art work from many other artists. Highly recommended.

Got this a few weeks back. Had been following online for a while now(just the illustrations, can’t read Japanese). Read somewhere the book theme is about fatherhood. Good book with lots of great art and artists. As you said, Otomo and Terada have the bulk of illustrations(not complaining), but other manga greats like Igarashi Daisuke, Taiyo Matsumoto, Hisashi Eguchi, Jiro Matsumoto, Naoki Urasawa and french artists like Nicolas de crecy and Bastien Vives also feature. Highly recommended.

Mfon – Yep, my biggest interest in the book is for Otomo and Terada, so it’s great that there’s plenty of art work from both of them.
