Freedom Opening Sequence 02

Posted By yonghow on July 27th, 2007

Freedom 4 goes on sale today, so I can finally post some screen caps from the renewed opening sequence :

I must have seen the opening sequence a hundred times over( both the old and updated one ) through the course of my work here but I still get that adrenaline rush everytime I watch it because its so beautifully done ( by the brilliant folks at Kamikaze Douga 神風動画 ), with the visuals and Utada’s “This is Love” complementing each other perfectly. In this renewed sequence the visuals get an update, with some new content from episode 3 spliced in, as well as Ao’s first appearance.

Sugoi!!! Yeah i agree that sometimes i just have the urge to just watch the opening sequence and sing to Utada’s melody.

Oh btw, i was browsing through Kamikaze Douga’s website and though i cant read kanji, i noticed that the Nintendo DS game, Hotel Dusk was featured on their main page. Care to briefly tell me what they did to the game, because I played that game a while back and for me personally was the best story-driven mystery/crime game I have every played on that platform.

Thanks!

Is the OST for FREEDOM available yet?

Cool…. i have a weak spot for openings with comic strip styles. Quite a bold move on the american illustration style.

Jasrie – The stub says that Kamikaze Douga was in charge of creating the animation for the game, using live action movement as reference and then doing trace overs with a technique called Rotoscoping, which was both difficult but interesting at the same time.

Zero – Nope, I don’t believe so. Also, I think there’s a very big chance that they won’t include any of Utada’s songs in the OST, so that fans will need to get both the OST and Hikkie’s singles together.

Fartboystinks – This visual treatement is definitely a nod to Otomo’s mangas. Interestingly, Otomo himself have mentioned before that Easy Rider was an inspiration for Akira.

I have to watch it someday!!

Hello Nicola, thanks for the support again ! :]

Ah i see now… Well that makes sense, since the game uses a series of sketches of characters to represent and animate them. Its really simplistic looking but really effective way tell the story make the characters believable.
