The Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance Teaser

Netflix has just released the first teaser trailer for the The Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance, a 10 part prequel series to the original 1982 film. Check it out below :

I’m pretty excited about this one, as a big fan of the original Dark Crystal film, and also because I love the character designs and concept art of Brian Froud, who also worked on Jim Henson’s Labyrinth.

Apparently no CGI has been used in the film, only puppets, which would be pretty rare for any film production involving visual effects in this age. In any case, look out for the series on Netflix on August 30th.

I seriously thought that it was a game at first. ..But I kinda appreciate its folklore-like value, as someone who’s been well tired of Wayne-like narratives.

Whoa this going to be absolutely incredible!

I really have to go back and watch Dark Crystal fully, one sitting. This is one fantasy film that I somehow missed when I was young and then when I found it again recently (and many years later in my life btw), I didn’t make a lot of progress on. When I tried to watch it, I was definitely pushed out of my comfort zone in terms of expectations. That isn’t intended to mean it was bad, just that I was having trouble slipping into its narrative flow to the point where I literally shut it off and stopped watching.

I’m going to give it an honest try again soon, based on your opinion of the original.

Star Gould – I can perfectly imagine this being a game !

DISTRAKT – I’m hopeful !

Chris – You make an interesting point actually, because I was also wondering how this new series will be received today by the audience who are so accustomed to CG instead of puppetry. For me I’m a fan of the original film ( as well as Labyrinth ) because of Brian Froud’s amazing character designs as well as the elaborate sets and costume designs. I hope you’ll like it better on your next viewing !
