Some pictures of the Japanese blu-ray for Studio Ghibli’s Academy Award winning film Spirited Away, directed by Miyazaki Hayao. The slipcase comes in a classy black finish with the silhouettes of Chihiro (Sen) and Faceless on the front cover.
Just like the Princess Mononoke blu-ray this is a barebones release, with little on the side of supplementary materials except for some trailers, TV spots and PIP storyboards. The image quality however, is superb; the images are very sharp and the colors are vibrant and dynamic, really showing off the beautiful background art plates used in the film.
At the time of writing no release date has been set for a US version of Spirited Away, although it’s great news that the blu-rays for Princess Mononoke and Kiki’s Delivery Service are on the way.
This blu-ray has little supplementary materials and doesn’t come cheap, but the image quality does not disappoint. This is the best video presentation of Miyazaki-san’s masterpiece (short of watching the original film print in a cinema) as yet.

Fresh2death – Image quality wise I don’t think there will be a big difference. Unfortunately I don’t live in LA so I can’t really say where they’re sold. Sorry !
