The Suginami Animation Museum in Tokyo will be holding a Kon Satoshi Retrospective Exhibition from the 29th of October 2014 to the 25th January 2015, and the admission is free ! Check out the flyer for the exhibition and more details below.
The exhibition will take a look at the origin/beginning of Kon Satoshi’s creative career, featuring original drawings from the numerous manga that the director has drawn.
Here are the exhibition highlights :
– Original drawings from the manga panels of Seraphim, Kaikisen, Opus and Dream Fossil.
– Cell drawings, character/settei sheets, concept art and more from Kon Satoshi’s films. ( specifically, films that Kon Satoshi has worked on. )
The museum is located in the Suginami ward of Tokyo, where many animation studios can be found, like Sunrise and Madhouse, which is actually within walking distance to the museum. I’ve bumped into Kon Satoshi at the Ogikubo station and in eateries around the area when I was working at Sunrise some years back.
To visit the museum’s exibition page, go here ( in Japanese only ). Directions on how to get to the museum here.
