The Art Of Star Wars : The Force Awakens is filled to the brim with fantastic production paintings, concept art and sketches, storyboards, blueprints and matte paintings created by the Lucasfilm art department during the development of the film.
Seriously, there’s a ton of amazing stuff in here. The staggering amount of concept art created for the film is just mind boggling. A reading of this book either before or after viewing the film will definitely enrich the experience even more.
(above and below) Concept sketches by Iain McCaig, whose art helped define the look of Princess Amidala in the prequels. Definitely check out his art book Shadowline.
At about 24 dollars this book is a big bang for your buck, a full 256 pages of awesome Star Wars art work created by some of the most talented folks in the industry. Personally I would have loved to see more character/costume designs for Rey, but that’s a nitpick. An easy recommendation.
