Wonderland (ワンダーランド) is the first published art book by Japanese illustrator Nanaco Yashiro (八館ななこ), a sumptuous collection of her vibrantly colored drawings paying homage to fairy tales and folklore, with some instantly recognizable characters like Alice In Wonderland, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Little Red Riding Hood and more. Her often intricate compositions explode with kaleidoscopic palette of colors that bedazzle the eyes; in some ways, her art style and color use remind me of the work of the legendary Yoshitaka Amano. The book features over 130 pieces of art work.

Wonderland is a delightful and refreshing new take on age-old fairy tales and folklore, and Nanaco Yashiro is yet another talented artist that I’ll be watching out for in the future. This is a fantastic release by publisher PIE Books and comes recommended.
