The Crying Freeman Special Edition Manga 池上遼一 クライング フリーマン 虎淸蘭編

Warning : The following post contains nudity/adult content.

This is a special edition release of Ryoichi Ikegami’s much acclaimed manga Crying Freeman. The format is actually magazine sized and quite a bit bigger than the regular tankobon size, making reading much easier. Quality-wise the manga is printed on cheap pulp paper, with a just 2 select glossy pages featuring full color illustrations ( see images further down ).

This should be vol 2 from the manga series; there’s no numbering so its hard to tell unless you are familiar with the comic’s contents.

Ryoichi Ikegami’s beautiful colored art works are really hard to come by ( also check out this small art book of his ), so I really did buy this manga just for the few precious colored illustrations.

Perhaps one day a “Complete Edition” of the manga will be released ( or maybe there’s already one out there that I’m not aware of ? ), with better print quality and more colored pages. One can certainly hope.

CRYING FREEMAN was one of the first manga I read that had been translated into English, and the wonderful art of Ikegami was what drew me in. I must have spent countless hours trying to copy his art style, and while my art style looks nothing like his, I still consider him a major influence.

Can’t get enough of Crying Freeman!
