The Beauties In Myths (神話) is an art book by renowned Japanese painter Ohrai Noriyoshi, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 80. As the title suggests, this hard cover volume features a total of 91 luminary female figures depicted in myths and legends, as well as some from recorded history. The paintings were originally released over the period from 1980-1987 in the magazine SF Adventure.

This new revised edition by publisher Fukkan ( which also published the storyboard books for Kon Satoshi’s Paprika and Perfect Blue ) comes in hard cover format and is also to commemorate Ohrai Noriyoshi’s retrospective art exhibition held at Ueno, Tokyo in 2018.

A splendid collection of Ohrai Noriyoshi’s sublime art work, with a focus on the beautiful female figure form. Some of these art work also appear in several of Ohrai other art books ( see links below ), but this is the definitive edition. Highly recommended.
