I thoroughly enjoyed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : Mutant Mayhem. Just like the Spider-Verse animated films, the filmmakers and artists put in a whole lot of work in crafting a look that is delightfully non-CGI. In that, Mutant Mayhem has its own distinctive visual style that is more grungy, with a hand-crafted plasticine-y look that sets it apart from the Spider-Verse films.

This art book collects the rich concept art created for the film, and my favorites are definitely the character designs for the “villains” of the film, a veritable mutant menagerie with hilarious names like SuperFly, Genghis Frog and Scumbug.

Mutant Mayhem is certainly one of the more enjoyable and colorful animated films I saw last year, and I’ll definitely be picking up it up on physical media at some point to re-visit it again. This art book is a wonderful collection of the quirky concept art from the film and comes recommended.
