Spider-Man 2 is a 2023 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This game is the 3rd installment in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, following Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man : Miles Morales, both of which I enjoyed immensely.

In this installment, Peter Parker and Miles Morales struggle to navigate the next steps in their personal lives while combating several new threats, including a private militia led by Kraven the Hunter, who transforms New York City into a hunting ground for super-powered individuals; and the extraterrestrial Venom symbiote, which bonds itself to Parker and negatively influences him, threatening to destroy his personal relationships.

Just like the art books for the prior 2 titles in the series, this big hardcover volume explores in detail the making of the game through the huge collection concept art pieces, from the numerous Spider-Man costume designs and gadgets for Peter & Miles as well as character and costume designs for the villains Kraven, the Lizard, Venom. There’s also a good number of set design pieces as well as storyboards and “mood boards”; elaborate and detailed illustrations that, well, set the mood and aesthetic for pivotal scenes in the game.

As I mentioned previously, I’ve had good fun playing all 3 titles in this game series; all of them are well-rounded, high-quality productions with great game mechanics, inventive traversal for the characters, immersive environments, and of course the art and design are just beautiful, as can be seen in this art book. Fans of Spider-Man and this game series will find plenty to like in this book. Recommended.
