Having just finished the notoriously difficult FromSoftware game Sekiro recently, I have now moved on to Death Stranding, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2019, developed by renowned game director Hideo Kojima and his studio Kojima Productions.
After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction.
One of the highlights of this art book are the many concept art sketches by character designer Yoji Shinkawa of MGS fame, but the rest of the content found in this 256 pages hardcover book are equally fascinating, detailing the unique visual designs for the characters, creatures, weapons, sets and more.

Death Stranding is without question a visually stunning game. At the time of writing this article I’ve clocked less than 10 hours of gameplay, but I’m liking what I’ve seen so far. I hope by the end of the journey the experience will equal the visual excellence achieved by the game designers. This art book offers superb coverage of the beautiful concept art and comes highly recommended.

I thought the play experience of the game was just so-so, and the story was sci-fi/fantasy wankery, but I can’t fault the graphic design. It was the standout of the year in that department, in my opinion. You’ll probably get a kick out of the game just for that.

Chris James – Much agreed, the visuals were what drew me to the game in the first place. I’m still making my way through the game, but at times there isn’t stuff happening that gives a bit of a kick or drive to want to continue playing.
