A fascinating and highly entertaining film from start to end, Marvel’s Black Panther film is also one of the studio’s biggest hits to date. This book takes the reader on an immersive journey behind the incredible concept art created during the pre-production stage of the film.
The amount of world building required to create a believable, imaginary African country Wakanda is quite daunting and it really shows in the many environment concept pieces featured in the book. Another highlight for me are the highly detailed costume designs and the sheer number of iterations and experimentations the artists had to go through when creating the unique look of Wakandan fashion. The costume designs for the female character Nakia catches my attention the most.
(below) The hard cover book comes with a very thick and sturdy cardboard case.
I don’t usually purchase these Marvel Art Of books unless I’ve personally worked on the films ( Avengers, Spider-Man : Homecoming ) but this one was going for a big discount on Amazon ( was $12.50 when I picked it up ). Given the huge amount of incredible concept art found in the book, I’ll still recommend it even at the regular price.

Damn… I want that first image framed and hung on my wall. All of ’em are awesome though. I’m not much of an art book guy like you though, I just don’t see the point. I’m not exactly going to get out an art book and just look at it.
