Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was the sleeper hit movie of 2023 for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the fantastic humor as well as the excellent visual effects done by my former employer ILM.

I picked up this art/making of book with somewhat muted expectations, as I had totally judged it by the cover, or should I say the format; we’ve come to associate the more “serious” art of books to come published in the landscape format ( rather than portrait ), and I had expected it to feature only a few token concept art pieces with the rest of the book filled by film grab photographs, but I was proven to be totally wrong.

The exact opposite is true – the entire book is packed with scores of concept art drawings, from character designs for the main cast to creature designs, sets, locations and more, with very few photographs indeed.

Just like the movie itself, this art and making of book exceeded all my expectations, with a really comprehensive showcase of all the splendid concept art that helped to shape the film into such a great success. Highly recommended.
