Sculptors Labo ( volume 2 /スカルプターズ・ラボ ) is a magazine showcasing the work from some of the very best Japanese figure sculptors working in the industry currently, including renowned artists like Takayuki Takeya, Entei Ryu, Ryu Oyama and many more.

I don’t personally collect figures and sculptures because I have neither the money or the space to display them, but nonetheless I am still thoroughly intrigued and impressed by the skill of these amazing artists, so books like these are the perfect way for me to indulge in their work vicariously.

(above & below) Creature design sketches and the actual sculpts by the renowned Takayuki Takeya – definitely check out the many excellent art books he has published on sculpting and creature design sketches.

(above & below) The sculptural designs of Entei Ryu (エンテイ・リュウ), who is also a highly accomplished character designer/illustrator. I highly recommend her 2024 art book ‘Chimera’.

An excellent volume to explore and discover some of the best Japanese sculpting artists working in the field today. Recommended.
