Labyrinth – The Ultimate Visual History is a visually stunning celebration of the 30th anniversary of Jim Henson’s enchanting fantasy classic.
Running near 200 pages, the hard cover volume features extensive material from the making of the film, from beautiful concept art and illustrations by Brian Froud to costume and set designs, on set photography, interviews with Jennifer Connelly, Brian Henson, Brian Froud and George Lucas. Also included is a fold out film poster. ( see image further below )
(above) Concept art for the fashionable worm that Sarah encounters at the start of her journey, probably my favorite character from the film when I watched it as a little kid. View the scene from the film below :
These days most fantasy creatures found in movies are realized via CGI, and puppetry work like those in Labyrinth have become a lost art. This book takes us back to the good old days of motion puppetry and is a perfect companion to the ageless fantasy classic. Most highly recommended.

How beautiful!
I’ve always been a big fan of Brian Froud; his collaboration with Alan Lee on Fairies has been one of my favorite artbooks for years!
I’m a little hesitant to rewatch Labyrinth since I’ve grown accostumed to the CGI landscapes and therefore fear the old visual masterpieces losing their magic touch…
