ILLUSTRATION 2019 presents the “NOW” of Japan’s illustration scene, showcasing art work from 150 artists spanning over 300 pages of illustrations. Every artist’s page comes a short profile together with some of his/her most representational art work.
Many of these artists have also released art books of their own; I have reviewed several of these art books previously and have highlighted a few of them below –
(above) Illustrations by Daisuke Richard – check out his art book Kikanetsu.
(below) Art work by Demizu Posuka – take a look at the artist’s book Pone.
(above) I’m a big fan of Mateusz Urbanowicz’s watercolor illustrations. Definitely check out his charming art book Tokyo Storefronts.
This huge volume is an excellent way to catch up with the best illustrators working in Japan right now. Recommended.
