Grow is the first art book by the Asian-Canadian illustrator who goes by the pen name Koyamori. Utilizing primarily water-colors and equipped with an acute color sense, Koyamori creates stunning illustrations with her subject matters often inspired by natural elements like plants, creatures, water and stars.
The artist hopes “to create a sense of peace and comfort for those who see her art work”, and it certainly works for me; I especially find her harmonious use of colors quite soothing to my eyes.
I was not familiar with the artist’s work prior to my purchase and had reservations whether the book will be good, but as I browsed through from cover to cover the art style really grew on me. These pieces would look amazing blown up as wall art.
Note : This copy I have reviewed is the Japanese edition; there is also an international edition with the SAME CONTENTS but a different cover art ( double-sided dust cover ), and I believe the book is also hard cover ( if anyone can verify this pls let me know ).
