Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them – The Art Of The Film is a visual feast of production paintings, concept sketches, storyboards, blueprints, matte paintings and more used during the production of the film.
The book is edited by Dermot Power, himself a concept designer on the film, with the team led by Academy Award-winning production designer Stuart Craig. One of my friends Kouji Tajima ( see his art book here ) who works at VFX house Double Negative also contributed to art work for the film; look for his abbreviated name KT in the captions.
The first section of the book features set and environment designs, and if you’ve already seen the film you’ll notice how close the concept art work is compared to the final realized sets appearing in the film.
The later portion of the book dives into the many dazzling creature designs that the concept team worked up, and it’s always interesting to see the pieces that never made it into the final film.

This book is a stunning library of art work showcasing fantastic beasts indeed, and a great visual companion to the equally fantastic film. Highly recommended.
I also suggest checking out the voluminous concept art book for the Harry Potter films.
