Of Seamonsters And Souls ( 海獣とタマシイ ) is a sumptuous 2 volume art book by Japanese comic artist Daisuke Igarashi, author of the manga series Children Of The Sea.

Totally over 300 pages of content, this 2 volume art book set was released to commemorate the completion of his manga series Children Of The Sea in 2012, and contains illustrations spanning over two decades of the artist’s work. Volume 1 of the book focuses more on just art work and illustrations, while Volume 2 covers interviews/conversations by Daisuke Igarashi with other manga artists like Taiyo Matsumoto, as well as short comic strips and pencil sketches.

The art book was sold out fairly quickly after its release and I missed the chance to purchase a copy ( and have been waiting in vain for a reprint ever since ), so I made sure to pick one up during my recent time in Tokyo.

I’ve always been a big fan of Daisuke Igarashi’s illustration style and this sumptuous 2 volume set is a fantastic way to enjoy all his art work. My highest recommendations.
