The Art Of Alien Isolation art book takes an in-depth look behind the art and making of the highly acclaimed action/adventure game by The Creative Assembly, based on the Alien film series.
I spent a fair chunk of my New Year break playing the game and was thoroughly impressed by the overall quality of the gameplay as well as the faithfulness to the design of the original Alien film. The amount of work that went into creating the superb level of detail in the sets, props, costumes, weapons and more really show and this is covered in detail in this art book.
(above & below) Many of the weapons that Amanda uses are created by putting together scraps and parts from other existing tools and materials, which at the same time allow for some interesting visual ingenuity in the weapon design.
One of the highlights of the game has got to be the incredible set design of the levels on the space port Sevastopol. The amazing level of detail is enhanced by the great lighting and really creates an intense atmosphere that the player can immerse in, or in my case get really spooked out.
An excellent art book and a great companion to the game. Highly recommended.
Note : I recommend playing the game first before reading the book, because there are some spoilers ( I’ve left them out in the review, of course ) that will likely diminish your enjoyment.

I was hoping you would review this book. I really enjoyed Alien Isolation and felt it was kind of under appreciated among last years releases. The book is beautiful and is very reasonably priced, so if you like the game there really is not reason to not get this art book.

DISTRAKT – It’s that good !
Don Austin – Enjoyed the game thoroughly, although it did get repetitive in parts. The art book is a bonus. :]
