Above The Timberline is a stunningly painted novel by American illustrator Gregory Manchess. The story takes place 1500 years in the future, where a pole shift has frozen the earth in a perpetual winter. Across this frigid, arctic wasteland, a boy sets out on an arduous journey to find his lost father.
I am embarrassed to admit that I have not really heard of the artist’s work before I found this title on Amazon, but once I saw some preview images I was completely sold. Now flipping through the book I am utterly astounded by Gregory Manchess’s amazing art; his cinematic composition and framing, and the rich visual energy emanating from his images.
I’m so glad to have been introduced to Gregory Manchess’s beautiful art through this novel. Running at over 200 pages and filled with the artist’s exquisite art, this hard cover volume is a steal for the listed price. My highest recommendations.

Very nice. I see he’s directly inspired by early 20th century American illustration.
