The latest Criterion blu-ray I’ve added to my movies collection is the Jackie Chan double bill featuring two of his earlier and best action movies, Police Story and Police Story 2. Here are some pictures of the set –
The foldout disc case is housed in a thin cardboard slipcase featuring the amazing illustration of Jackie Chan by the artist Jeremy Enochio. There are 2 more illustrations adorning the exterior flaps of the foldout case.
The blu-ray also comes with a mini folded poster on one side and an essay by critic Nick Pinkerton on the other side.
As far as the video quality of the 2 films are concerned ( 4k restorations ), they are very good considering how old these films are, and certainly offering the best presentation of these movies I’ve ever seen. I have no complaints whatsoever. There are also a whole slew of supplementary materials, interviews and documentaries spread across the 2 discs.
I’m really happy with this Criterion release, and my only regret is that the equally amazing Police Story 3 wasn’t collected together with this set, probably due to rights issues. That said, I still give my highest recommendations for this blu-ray.
“Police Story/Police Story 2 – The Criterion Collection Blu-ray″ details :
