A retrospective art exhibition of the late Japanese illustrator Ohrai Noriyoshi ( 1935-2015 ) will be held at the Mori Art Museum in Ueno, Tokyo in January next year. Noriyoshi has painted countless illustrations for film posters, including Starwars The Empire Strikes Back, Mad Max 2 as well many Godzilla films.
The exhibition will feature about 250 pieces of his work ( curated from his collection of more than 3000 pieces ), including his largest painting The Destruction Of Man ( image below ). This is a rare opportunity to see some of his best illustrations up-close, and I highly recommend visiting if you’re in Tokyo in January ( or indeed make plans to visit now ).
