Japanese animation house Studio 4°C ( Tekkon Kinkreet ) has just launched a Kickstarter program to fund the blu-ray release for one of their animated films Mind Game, directed by Masaaki Yuasa ( PingPong ). This film has achieved kind of a cult status among fans of the director and remains very popular even though it was released some 13 years ago. At the time of writing this article the project has already exceeded its goal.
Studio 4°C is also running it’s own funding program, which is catered more for folks living in Japan.
Both funding programs will deliver the same rewards ( see image below – booklet, artcards + stickers ); however Studio 4°C’s program will ship the rewards earlier.
Interestingly, the blu-ray will also be available for purchase via regular retailers ( I’m pretty sure Amazon Japan will carry it ) after all the rewards have been shipped out, so I think I’ll just sit this one out and buy it at a later date, as the extras rewards don’t really interest me. I just want a copy of the film in blu-ray. :]
Lastly, you might want to take a look at the spectacular jumbo dvd boxset that Studio 4°C released for Mind Game back in the day; I believe copies are still available for sale on Amazon Japan.

I’m so hyped for this. Mind Game is one of my favorite animated films. Its animation at its finest (in my humble opinion). anything by Masaaki Yuasa is a treat.
