Crusher Joe Designers Note is an art book for the 1983 sci-fi anime film Crusher Joe, directed by veteran animator/manga artist Yoshikazu Yasuhiko ( Venus Wars ), who also served as character designer on the show.
The film is a little before my time and I cannot profess much knowledge on it, although I can clearly recognize the director’s art work from his distinct character designs ( something in the gaze of his characters ) . The book covers a comprehensive selection of art from the film, including posters and illustrations, genga, storyboards, character, mecha design sheets and more.
A comprehensive art book for those who are fans of the animated film, or those with a nostalgia for sci-fi anime from the early 80s. Recommended.

Ah, CRUSHER JOE…a true anime classic! I’ve had my eye on this book for some time now, and I may just snatch it up.
This is definitely one of my favorite anime titles, and there were two follow-up OVAs released in the late 80s/early 90s.

Marc – Nice ! I can’t say I’m super familiar with it, but I’m certainly a big fan of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s art work. Have an upcoming book review for him !
