These 32 artists leverage the rich visual culture of anime and manga to create sci-fi art that is in many ways uniquely Japanese, and is certainly a breath of fresh air from the more common visual style of science fiction offerings we see posted on social media. (above) Art work by Tsukino Yota. He doesn’t have a published art book yet, but I really like his work and I hope one is on the way !

(above) An illustration from the Steam Reverie In Amber Illustration Book I reviewed a while back, by artist Kuroimori (黒イ森). Very lovely illustrations, and I highly recommend the art book.

(below) Malbeni Akane’s bold and whimsical illustration style is instantly recognizable. Check out my review for her art book.

This is a splendid volume to discover the work of some new exciting Japanese artists and illustrators while marveling the excellent sci-fi illustrations showcased. Recommended.
