All You Need Is Kill is a sci-fiction manga illustrated by Death Note artist Takeshi Obata, adapted from the original short novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka ( also used by Hollywood for the remake Edge Of Tomorrow ).
The premise behind the story/manga can best be described as a mix of Groundhog Day + Starship Troopers, and I enjoy both the manga and the film although they’re quite different in many ways. Takeshi Obata’s art work is excellent as always, with lots of detail in every panel of art work and beautifully rendered action sequences.
Even if you were not a fan of the Hollywood remake, the manga is still worth checking out because of Takeshi Obata’s beautiful art work. Recommended.

The manga was too packed. Squeezing the light novel into 2 tankobon is too much. Sometimes a few lines in the light novel can be enough to let reader knows there was countless loops happen between the previous paragraph and the moment they reach that point. But it not work that way with the manga’s narrative, there’s should be way many more filler frames to make it work. The movie was better in showing how desperate they are in their attempt to move forward.
Not Obata’s best work.

Do you know if the “Mind Game” book, by Robin Nishi is sold in Enlgish? I’ve only found it in Japanese and French.

@Kamikaze man like to know that too! Because been using a language translate app on phone to get a lil closer to the pages. This is one of the main reason steady learning other languages, because can’t stand to be left out while everybody else is having fun lol.

@Foggyflute Akira was my first real manga, and needless to say I consider most manga to have pacing issues. Otomo spoiled me. :p
But it’s such a good price I might get it anyway. 🙂

Foggyflute – I’ve been meaning to read the light novel but never got around to it. I also can’t say I know Obata’s work all that well, although I do like his art work. 😛
Kamikaze/DISTRAKT – To the best of my knowledge, I don’t know of an English edition.
Jason – Reading any of Otomo’s mangas first would greatly impact your ability to enjoy other “lesser” works, I think. Personally I enjoyed the pacing and build up of Domu even more than Akira. :]
