To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Transformers media franchise, Takara Tomi/Parco publishing has released The Art Of The Transformers book, a collection of toy/merchandising illustrations from the golden age of Transformers ( 1985-1995 ). Included are the many classic designs of the most recognizable Transformers including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Grimlock and the Dinobots, Devastator and many more.

Wow, yes, this is a certain buy for me (actually two copies, as this will make a great gift for a friend). Definitely a nostalgia trip.

It’s a decent book….I picked it up this spring at the Parco event.

However, and sorry to sound like a snob, but the American version published a few years ago by IDW in hardcover is much better…bigger pics and better layout.

The HC is out of print, but they’re reprinting it in paperback in December.

They’re honestly almost identical, but I do give the edge to the IDW version. If you’re on the fence, go for that one.
