Studio Ghibli Anime Blu-ray Cover Designs II

Posted By yonghow on August 26th, 2011

It was only a few days after my post on the blu-ray cover designs for Studio Ghibli’s films that they announced the next line up of films slated for HD delivery on the 16th of November this year – How’s Moving Castle, Tales of Earthsea, and also a re-release of Ponyo with an updated cover design. One of my readers mentioned that this design was first used on the German blu-ray release of Ponyo.

And now we’re just short of the blu-rays for My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso and Princess Mononoke. Keep them coming, Ghibli !

i wonder if they will ever release Only Yesterday or Ocean Wave like that. those are two of my favorites!

The minimalist updated covers are cute.. I hope they release all of their movies with these covers. 🙂

Zack – I’m pretty sure they will, those are really popular too, at least in Japan.

i think they have yet to be released in America. i only have them because they were in a Chinese region free boxset.

I love these simple but iconic main covers, shame they do not have english subtitles, anyway, a must-have for ghibli fans.

rulascalaca – I believe some, if not all of these blu-rays do have English subtitles ! :]

Still waiting for the Porco and Cat’s Return ones!
Love the minimalistic designs.
