One of the cool perks of working in the animation & film industry are the artist/crew gifts we get after delivery of films; posters, movie memorabilia, etc. I’ve received a fair share of fantastic gifts during my time in ILM Singapore but this particular one from Sony Imageworks is pretty special – a maquette replica of the world saving dog from the 2021 Netflix/Sony Pictures Animation film Mitchells Vs The Machines.

Sony Pictures Animation actually handed out these to the crew of the show quite a while back but mine has been entrusted with a friend for safekeeping until recently because I didn’t have the chance to head back to the studio to collect it ( we work from home now ). Engraved on the front of the maquette base is Katie’s line from the film “You guys are my people”, and on the back “Thanks to the greatest crew in the history of film !”.

And included with the gift is a nice letter of thanks from director Mike Rianda, producers Phil Lord/Chris Miller as well as the other higher-ups.

(below) The official movie poster is another great crew gift we received for working on the film.

Took some time earlier this week to go pick up my copy of #TheMitchellsVsTheMachines poster from @imageworksvfx; so happy to have worked on this film. Now I just need to find a nice frame to put up this bad boy ! ? pic.twitter.com/WMOC775QnF
