Update May 2020 – Be sure to check out the PLUS+ art book, which collects all these new cover illustrations.

Giant Slam Dunk Billboards populate the entrance of Tokyo’s Shibuya JR train station Hachiko exit. The hugely popular manga by Takehiko Inoue is seeing a new edition released with brand new cover art illustrated by the artist. It is quite common for comic series to release new editions every now and then to re-energize the title and bring in new readership.

( Image below ) Inoue-san recently tweeted the 2nd batch of volumes ( 7-10 ) with new covers that will go on sale soon.

While new cover art illustrations for the series is greatly welcomed, the Complete Edition of the manga is still my favourite way to enjoy the series ( image below ), both for it’s bigger print size and also colored pages.

Seeing these billboards just make me want to re-read the whole series all again ! The new edition can be purchased on Amazon Japan.

His Vagabond art style comes out a lot in these new covers. Especially noticeable from the eyes.
