Ray Toh, my old animation classmate and movie buddy from Temasek Polytechnic is a gifted illustrator/conceptual artist whose portfolio includes comic covers for Warhammer and X Isle, and his personal artwork have been showcased in the prestigious Spectrum – the preeminent publication for fantasy art. Ray Toh is also the only person I know who have watched The Phantom Menace an astounding 5 times at the cinema, ( I only chalked 4 ) during the pre-dvd era.

Previously attached to Imaginary Friends Studio (IFS), Ray is now venturing out on his own, and you can contact him for project based work from his personal website. He is currently involved a comic anthology that includes other notable names like Jon Foster and Sonny Liew.

Wah, I stumbled upon this guy’s site a few weeks back and was totally bowled over. Then you reveal that he was your poly classmate…
Aiyah, I should have just gone to poly too. So wasted…
Way to go, RAY!
I cannot believe that he watched The Phantom Menace that many times…and YOU! You watched it 4 times! I think I must have only seen it twice.
But I’m not ashamed of this fact. I really hate Ep 1 and 2. 3 was the only redeeming one for me.
sweet.
i first saw his art on the first IFS book…
w – Hey, a passion is never too late to start. :]
Nahs – What, The Phantom Menace was a big deal those days, the first from the new series, and on top of that we were fervent students of the craft. I think 4 times is just about right. As far as the overall look is concerned Phantom Menace is still my favourite, because it was mostly shot on film, unlike the later 2 that were on HD and everything just looks too shiny and cold for me.
tragic comedy – They have a 2nd book, Ray’s in it too. :]
singapore’s got talent XD
Actually, I did like Phantom Menace for one thing and one thing only: Amidala. But I agree with you on the film vs HD look.
Ho Eh Ray!
But hor ray and vong….. you all watch alternate reality Star wars movie called Phantom Menace so many times…. A bit scary. Actually is damn scary….
Ahmedala din even show half ball…until ATOC..
So why watch so many times?
Mr Hill – Because the force was strong with the first one. Regarding Ahmedala’s ball, well, thank goodness I have Closer on dvd.
Holy! he is gooood!
