Famed Japanese illustrator Katsuya Terada will be holding an art exhibition titled The Monster And The Boy ( モンスターと少年 ) at the Gallery House Maya in Aoyama, Tokyo from the 7th to 19th of September 2020. The exhibition will showcase 19 of his new pencil illustrations.

In trying times as such it would probably be hard to visit the exhibition if you’re not already in the country, but thankfully some of the works are viewable online ! Nothing beats seeing art works in their original form, but this still beats not seeing them at all. Check out a few of them below :

Also, if you haven’t already, I highly recommend checking out Terada’s latest art book Real Size ( image below ), featuring a splendid collection of his black marker art works.

These are amazing! I can honestly say these are some of my favourite drawings he has ever done (and I have almost all of his stuff, dating back to the Nintendo Power Dragon Warrior guide). I love that he is focusing on pencil work. And what’s better than kids with their monster guardians? Man, I really hope he puts out a book of these.

I think I first found out about him on your website and I must say I really like his style of inking. I am not sure what it is exactly but stylistically his work are unique too. Would have really been nice to view his work in real life but alas.

Ryan – Thankfully for us, many of the illustrations that he has done and showcased online do eventually make their way into print form, so here’s hoping !

i – Glad you like his work ! I’ve only seen his work in person once back in 2013, but hopefully again in the future !
