The Last Of Us Part II is the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Playstation 4 video game by Naughty Dog Studios, released back in 2013. Just like the original, The Last Of Us Part II garnered overwhelming praise and is a veritable tour de force in high quality game creation. I’ve only finished it myself very recently, but I’m already diving into my 2nd play-through to experience again this truly remarkable game.

One of the biggest praises for the game in addition to the immersive game-play and character development are the absolutely stunning visuals, and this official art book gives the reader the opportunity to dive deep into the amazing concept art developed by the creative team, with some 200 pages of content featuring a huge collection of environmental art, character designs and more.

The environmental concept art piece/s for every set that the player wanders through in the game is showcased, and I am both amazed and also impressed by how just close the final visual designs look in comparison to the original art work.

(image below) I love how the concept art pieces capture a beautiful cinematic mood; and I wonder if this is what we can expect from the upcoming HBO live-action series in development.

(image below) The concept art of Ellie standing before her farm is a nice nod to the renowned painting Christina’s World by Andrew Wyeth.

(above right ) Some select pieces of the Seraphites’ ( Scars ) propanganda murals are also included in the book. There’s quite a few more that appear in the game and I wish all of them could have been reproduced in this book.

The Last Of Us Part II is one of the best games I’ve played in recent years, and this art book easily claims a spot on my annual list of favorite art books. My highest recommendations.
