Wookies, Wampas, and Weequays; Biths, Banthas and Bogwings; Porgs, Puffer pigs and Pau’ans. Star Wars : Alien Archive is the ultimate species guide for Star Wars fans! This comprehensive collection will tell you all you need to know about the culture, history and legends of the aliens of the galaxy.

The dizzying amount of alien species and creatures covered over the 160 pages of this hardcover volume is testament to the boundless imagination and hard work of the filmmakers, concept artists and creature designers; I certainly recognize a good number of the entries showcased in the book but many are completely new to me.

This book will not only entertain and delight Star Wars fans both young and older alike, but also serve as an excellent reference and study material for anyone who is looking to design their own creatures or alien species. The illustrations are for the most part pretty well drawn and detailed, with the accompanying short captions providing additional information on every alien/creature showcased.

I’m not a particularly big Star Wars fan myself; I do enjoy most of the films from the franchise, but mostly for the exceptional visual effects, especially from the new Trilogy and spin-off films like Rogue One and Solo. As I mentioned earlier however, this book is excellent reference material for creature designs, and if you’re a fan of Star Wars, even better ! Recommended.

Have you checked out The Wildlife of Star Wars by Terryl Whitlatch? Although very few of the creatures in the book are her designs, her sensibilities as a creature artist really shine through in it.

Coffee – I have not, but I’ve definitely seen her work else where before and it’s great. Thanks for the recommendation !
