Easily one of the better films of 2018, Marvel/Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man : Into The Spiderverse combines a groundbreaking visual style informed by the comics that inspired it with an equally captivating story-line, garnering tons of film and animation awards including the Golden Globes. I’m proud to have contributed a small part to the film ( I was one of the lighting/compositing artists ).
This art book delves into the stunning concept art created for the film, with a surplus of sketches, storyboards, character/environment designs as well as my favorite – color scripts.
It is utterly amazing to me ( and huge credit goes to the peerless concept artists who worked on the film ) that the beautiful concept art are so faithfully interpreted into the moving visuals we see in the finished film.
Spiderverse is a spectacular piece of animated film-making, and this gorgeous volume, filled with over 200 pages of astounding concept art compliments it perfectly. My highest recommendations.

Picked this up before I saw the film–and yes, it’s a fantastic art book. My one, very minor gripe is that I wish they could have added a bit more in regards to the character designs…but again, that is such a minor gripe when overall, the book is simply amazing.
And yes, SPIDER-VERSE is hands-down one of the best films I’ve seen in a while, and one of the best animated films ever made. Just my opinion, of course!
