For quite a while I’ve been hearing my illustrator friends sing praises of Kim Jung-Gi’s astonishing sketches, and anticipated him to be good, but I honestly didn’t expect him to be THIS good. As far as draughtsmanship skills are concerned, he is as good as I have ever seen, right up there with renowned manga artists like Otomo Katsuhiro, Katsuya Terada, Tatsuyuki Tanaka.

Really, this dude can draw pretty much everything. Caricatures, realistic, stylized, you name it. The numerous colored works will also give you a good idea of how well he can paint. His understanding of the human anatomy is beyond expert; the same goes for his ability to render spatial form and perspective.

Stylewise, I definitely see resemblances to Otomo’s and Tatsuyuki Tanaka’s work, Moebius too, of course – his influence is ubiquitous.
