Netflix has just released the first teaser for Vivo, an animated musical starring Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame, with animation done by Sony Imageworks for Sony Pictures Animation. Check it out below –

I jumped right onto this film after finishing The Mitchells Vs The Machines last June, and it’s actually the first film project that I was able to complete while working from home, with production wrapping in March earlier this year.

I also had the great opportunity to be the key-lighter on one of the sequences in the film, which gave me more responsibilities but also greater creative scope to help define the final look of the shots, and it was a very satisfying experience.

Vivo showcases some really beautiful CG renditions of Cuba, among many other locales, and I can’t wait to share the film with everyone soon; the scheduled release date on Netflix is June 20th 2021. Keep an eye out for a full trailer, hopefully coming soon !
